Millennium Park

Millennium Park was created over a capped landfill located in greater Boston. The park was designed to include a plethora of both passive and active recreational opportunities. Design elements include two age-specific playgrounds, four multi-use athletic fields, a canoe launch, shade and concession structures, an amphitheatre, a multi-user path system, and educational wetland placards. In order to attract wildlife, the planting palette consisted of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers. The park has receive several awards: Nicholas Humber Environmental Award for Outstanding Collaboration from the Environmental Business Council of New England, Inc., March 2002, and Recreation and Park Association's Outstanding Design of Facility, 2001. Ironwood principal Jeffrey Hyland was the project landscape architect. Landscape architectural firm of record was Brown, Richardson, & Rowe.
