The Town of Newmarket has a very active athletic program that includes boys and girls soccer, boys baseball, and girls softball, as well as summer adult softball and youth camp programs. Ironwood was hired to redesign existing athletic fields and their associated facilities in a manner that would maximize land use and minimize environmental impact. One key and cost-effective design feature was the creation of a large drumlin in place of bleachers. Colorful native maple trees were incorporated in the drumlin design to provide shade for spectators.
