  This project was funded by a grant from the New Hampshire Coastal Program and restores a portion of Norris Brook that flows through Swasey Parkway in Exeter, N.H.  Due to the park environment, for many years the grass was cut to the edge of the brook; this project provides new native plants along the edge of the brook to create an improved riparian area. Vegetated areas stabilize shorelines, reduce flood waters, moderate water temperatures, and trap sediment and other pollutants that could otherwise wash into the stream. A large portion of the project was planted in the spring and additional plants are planned for the fall. Volunteers also removed some of the invasive plants located at this site.  For more information on this project please contact the Exeter Department of Public Works.
