HISTORY

Ironwood's origin goes back to 1999 when from a home office in Somerville, Massachusetts the firm's principal, Jeffrey Hyland, set out to create a unique landscape architectural practice. For many years he worked at prominent landscape architectural firms in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. With nearly 20 years of experience, Jeffrey has been directly associated with numerous notable and award-winning projects.

Jeffrey is a native New Englander, he grew up and was educated in Rhode Island, spent time living abroad, and then moved with his wife to the seacoast of New Hampshire. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), holds a Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB) certification, and maintains landscape architectural registration in a number of states.

Jeffrey is an active resident of the seacoast. He is currently an executive member of the Stratham, NH Planning Board. In addition he was a founding member of Art-Speak, the Arts and Cultural Commission for Portsmouth, and the City of Portsmouth's Public Art Committee.
